Continuing the series of interviews from the 2017 Helping Hand Awards, discover our interview of Wendy Pepperall, who works in CACIB London, on her commitment to the charity Richard House, which supports children with life limiting and life ending illnesses, and their families

1- What is the purpose of the charity you presented?
Richard House is a Children’s Hospice supporting children and their families in East London to lead as happy and positive a life as possible while dealing with terminal or life limiting illnesses. (For more information, see also ).

2- What is the nature of your involvement in the charity?
I became aware of Richard House through a sports team I am a member of, which has raised funds for them through a river marathon, and attended their Summer Fare as a volunteer. I have also volunteered to participate in an abseiling fundraiser later this month, and on a smaller scale, I keep a collection box and donate items to their charity shop – every penny helps.

3-  What will the Solidaires money be used for?
The donation from Crédit Agricole CIB enabled the charity to fund a weekend respite stay for a life-limited child, to give his or her family a much needed break in the knowledge that their child is in safe hands with Richard House’s highly qualified, expert staff. Refreshed, the family can then give their all to their child again.

4- What have you learned from your participation?
I have learned that there are an awful lot of very worthwhile charities on our doorstep here in London, and that even a small donation can make a huge difference. It has also been a good reminder of how much I, and the majority of us here at CACIB, have to be grateful for, including the Helping Hand programme, which enables us to reach out to such deserving causes.

Crédit Agricole CIB launched the “Solidaires By Crédit Agricole CIB” program in 2013 to encourage public interest activities undertaken by its employees. Through “Helping Hand” (Coups de Pouce Solidaires), the program provides financial support to the NGO and charity projects in which employees are involved. In London, the programme is organized by the Charities Committee. Find out more here.
