Crédit Agricole CIB Hong Kong commits, Yue WU introduces his charity project

Early March, you read the interview of Cécile Leclercq, who works for Crédit Agricole CIB in France, and found out about the charity project she decided to support as part of the 2017 Helping Hand program. Today, discover the charity project supported by Yue Wu from Crédit Agricole CIB Hong Kong.

What is the purpose of the charity you presented?
“Sowers Action” is a Hong Kong-based charity which supports children’s education in rural China. In 25 years, the organization and its volunteers have built 1,300 schools, trained 30,000 teachers and financed school fees for 300,000 children.

What is the nature of your involvement in the charity?
I have been involved in Sowers Action over the past 5 years, raising funds for school construction or fee donations. This year, in addition to raising money to buy winter-jackets for children in need, a team of 7 people from the association (including my colleague Daryl Jian, my son Alex, and I) volunteered to deliver the 1,700 winter-jackets we raised.

What has the Helping hand money been used for?
The Helping Hand funding allowed us to buy 230 winter jackets over the 1700 collected in total, which we distributed to students in need in November.  I’m also especially proud of our colleagues, who joined the effort to donate 300 winter jackets. All in all, over 40 colleagues from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia and London donated.

What have you learned from your participation?
Our organization is full of caring people who proactively reach out to help others. We have made a difference for hundreds of students by keeping them warm in the middle of winter. Thank you team, and thank you Crédit Agricole CIB Helping Hand.
