As part of its long-standing commitment to help underprivileged people, CACIB Hong Kong supports the education and employability of the students of the Centre Docteur Christophe Merieux in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, namely by providing them with skill-based training. Since 2014, CACIB Hong Kong has given 6 training sessions to the same batch of 38 students at the Centre, accompanying them in their journey, from newly admitted college students to soon-to-be graduates.

From April 7 to April 10, 2018, CACIB Hong Kong provided its sixth and last training session to that group of students who will soon enter the job market. With the hope of honing the communication skills of students in preparation for their future in the workplace, CACIB volunteers offered courses on soft skills and basic knowledge of the business world.

During the fifth training, “Leadership in the Workplace” and “Finance/ Accounting” were explained in the format of presentations, article review, case studies, group discussions and classroom competitions. Previously, there had been trainings on topics such as “How to Run a Business”, “Successful Budgeting and Planning”, “Communication” and “Team Management”.

A volunteer team comprised of around 20 colleagues from CACIB Hong Kong and Indosuez Wealth Management Hong Kong Branch devoted themselves to the three-month preparation of teaching materials. Five of them conducted the two full-day trainings in the Centre.

As part of the overall collaboration between CACIB and the Children of the Mekong organization, two of the best students will be selected, at the end of their studies, for a three-month program at CACIB London. The program includes a welcome week, intense English courses, a 4-week Job Shadowing and the visit of London. This valuable opportunity sponsored by CACIB London will enable them to immerse in an English-speaking environment and to be exposed to different levels and functions within CACIB.

We hope that these newly minted graduates will cut teeth on the soft skills that CACIB taught them after entering the job market!
