Mission to support financial management of FATEN, microfinance institution in Palestine

In the framework of the Solidarity Bankers Programme, Crédit Agricole SA and the Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation (GCAF), publish a mission to support financial management of FATEN, microfinance institution in Palestine.


The Solidarity Banker will have 3 main objectives:


  • Support the financial department in the update of financial procedures, policies and tools to reflect the centralization of the financial operations
  • Provide insights and training for alignment of financial reporting with international financial standards IFRS9 and IFRS16
  • Provide analytical tools and know-hows on cost allocation and profit generation per operational unit

LOCATION AND MISSION DURATION


  • The beneficiary organisation is in Palestine, but the mission will be online / remote (no field mission given the Covid-19 context).
  • 15 working days dedicated to the mission. The expert will work remotely and dedicate the equivalent of 1 day every week, during 15 weeks, to the mission.
  • Beginning of the mission: May 2021
  • The mission can be held during the Solidarity Banker’s working time (skill-based sponsorship) AND/OR holidays (volunteering).



BACKGROUND


FATEN is a microfinance institution that was established in 1999 by Save The Children. It is registered as a non-profit, Limited Liability Company and supervised by the Palestinian Monetary Authority (PMA). Its mission is to serve the financial services needs of low- and middle-income Palestinian entrepreneurs and individuals. FATEN provides loans under the individual methodology. As of December 2020, the institution serves 26 244 active borrowers (34% women and 68% in rural areas) and manages a portfolio of €108 742 361. It is operating in whole Palestine (West Bank and Gaza) through a network of 37 branches and 277 employees.

 

GCAF has been supporting FATEN since 2014 through various senior loans, and has disbursed a new loan equivalent to €1 million in December 2019. In the framework of Solidarity Bankers by CA, GCAF aims at supporting FATEN through a technical assistance mission carried on by one or several experts from Crédit Agricole, a leader international banking group.



RESEARCH PROFILE


  • The expert is Credit Agricole Staff with the following expertise/experience:
  • Expertise in financial analysis
  • Knowledge of the International Financial Reporting Standards and in particular the latest changes on IFRS 16 and IFRS 9
  • High proficiency in English is required
  • Previous experience in technical assistance or advisory work in a developing country would be helpful.
